2 books by Dr. Robert O. Fife

Two Outstanding books by Dr. Robert O. Fife are available. Dr. Fife is a scholar with an irenic spirit who has specialized in the history of the Disciples of Christ/Christian Churches/Churches of Christ. He has served as Professor at Emmanuel School of Religion, Fuller Theological Seminary, Pepperdine University, Johnson Bible College and Milligan College. He has served as Executive Director of the Westwood Christian Foundation.

Dr. Fife has kept abreast of the major issues facing the Reformation of the Nineteenth Century, which is a movement within the Church to "unite the Christians in all the sects", on the basis of the biblical gospel as normative, for the sake of the mission of the Church in the world. Dr. Fife has spoken discerningly concerning these ideals and their relevance to the world of our time. Every minister and church leader will be challenged by the lectures in these two books. Dr. Fife has walked among us as a reconciler and a peace maker.

The first book, Celebration of Heritage was published in 1992. This volume of 472 pages contains twenty-eight lectures pertaining to the Church and the Reformation of the Nineteenth Century. You will want to read "God Calls the Church to Renewal"; "Christian Unity as Reception and Attainment; "The Nature of Christian Unity"; "Why Must I Be Baptized?"; "Reformation at the Lord's Table" (much needed in our Christian churches today); "Reflections on Membership"; "The Neglected Alternative"; "Is There a Pattern?"; "The Stone-Campbell Movement: Toward a Responsible Future." These are lectures that challenge our best thought and call for our deepest loyalty and commitment.

The second book, Conveying The Incarnation was published in 1993. The essays in these 374 pages have to do with the church and the world. Dr. Fife addresses the issues of slavery (which was the theme of his doctoral dissertation at Indiana University in 1960), racism, the holocaust, war, freedom, science, and what it means to be human. Dr. Fife says the calling of the modern church is to convey the Incarnation to the world. These chapters will grip your mind and move your heart.

These books are ideal for ministers (especially younger ministers), church leaders and all those desiring to be educated church members and Christians.
